Meet the Staff

Andrew Rawls is the owner and founder of The Crafter’s Library. In his free time (mostly Tuesday’s when The Crafter’s Library is closed) he enjoys spending time at the beach with his dog Achilles, hanging out with friends, binging shows on Netflix, singing, and running the luxury tour company he started in Washington, D.C. He describes himself as a jack of all trades when it comes to crafting. He especially loves to sew, having learned to do so in 2019 while living on US Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. In addition to creating bags, pillows and quilt tops, Andrew loves to make macramé wall hangings as well as rolled paper flowers!

Andrew started The Crafter’s Library dedicated to the idea that anyone can craft. He is incredibly proud of the store and the community that it supports here in Santa Barbara!

Achilles T. Dog, Chief Barketing Officer

Achilles has worked at The Crafter’s Library since his adoption day, on January 7, 2022. His favorite crafts include abstract sculptures design out of plastic (he loves to chew on 2 liter bottles) and chaotic free from fiber arts (he loves to chew up skeins of yarn). He is a huge art enthusiast, cheering on everyone who come into the store to create art by giving them kisses. In his spare time, he enjoys long walks on the beach or at the Douglas Family Nature Preserve, being fed treats and lots of belly rubs and under the chin scratches. He looks forward to welcoming you to the shop!

Alexis Watters

Master Maker

Alexis hails from a small village in Ohio, but has been happy to call Santa Barbara her home for the last 3.5 years. Along with being a professional illustrator and graphic designer, Alexis has an insatiable curiosity as to how things are crafted and made, resulting in a wide variety of crafting interests. A saying she likes to keep in mind is “when you don’t see something that you’re looking for in the world, sometimes you have to be the one to put it there!” When not at The Crafter’s Library, she loves to thrift, hike, beach comb, sing, and make weird and wonderful things to decorate her home.

Specialty Crafts: Sewing, Macrame, Bookbinding, Wood Burning, Water Colors

Crafting since:  She’s always been crafty and can’t pinpoint a start of her crafting journey!

In her free time when she isn’t crafting up a storm at The Crafter’s Library, she likes to ride bikes around town, salsa dance and practice yoga.

Specialty Crafts: Sewing, crochet, painting, paper crafts, print making, candle and soap making.
